Lone Pine Blaze..... makes AKC Field Champion at Muskegon River Beagle Club 4/3/15
Blaze's sire Buster is pictured below.
My goal is to produce rabbit dogs that are useful for hunting.
Aren't all beagles useful??
Many beagles have weak noses, lack hunt, and can't stick with their rabbit.
I like my dogs to be able to run in adverse conditions. When you plan a hunt, you never know what to expect for weather. I will not keep a dog that can't run a fresh jumped rabbit on snow.
Hunt. I'm seeing a lack of "jump" ability in beagles today. I want dogs that go "through" the briars and jump rabbits. Running around the woods and not getting in the brush does not impress me.
Finally, "stick". The ability to lock-on a track and keep it going with extremely short breakdowns. Did I mention solo? Yes, they must be able to do this by themselves! To do this a dog should have gears and a good nose. I've seen my dogs change gears as the cover changes. Maintaining contact with the line and putting steady pressure on the bunny. I love it!
